Meet the Staff




David Mark, Chief of Training Services, has a Master degree from Loyola College in Curriculum Development. For 10 years he has worked at the Kennedy School for Learning Disabilities both as a teacher and Vice Principal. For the past 23 years since leaving Kennedy, David has been involved in the design, development, and delivery of training content for a number of private organizations. In January, 2001, he came to DHMH with the goal of developing online courses. Today his primary focus is maintaining an online system that delivers and tracks online courses, and registers participants for classroom courses.
 


Susan Steele, Director, Management Development Programs, has been involved in education for her entire professional career, first, in the public sector as a high school teacher and counselor and then, in a variety of industries in the private sector as a consultant, trainer, software implementation specialist, and training manager.  She lives in Fells Point with her husband and three cats and truly enjoys “city living” with all its varied cultural and recreational activities.
 

​Vander V. Exum, Management Development Specialist, has joyfully worked in the field of education and training since 1998. Vander’s wide-ranging professional experiences include functioning as a public school teacher, developmental disabilities advocate, college instructor and diversity consultant. In 2001 he received a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development from Towson University. Vander joined the TSD team in April 2008 bringing a strong knowledge base and passion for cultural diversity competence and inclusion. His primary responsibility will be TSD’s diversity training initiatives, along with various management development programs. Leisurely, Vander enjoys music, reading, traveling abroad, and physical fitness.

Jacqueline Felton is the newest member of the Training Services Division.  Jackie is our Administrative Officer, tasked with, among other things, being the initial contact for DHMH staff needing assistance from our department. She comes to us from the Department of Housing and Community Development. Her strong administrative and customer service skills greatly enhances our ability to service the diverse needs and requests that we receive from DHMH staff.  

Chris Grodnitzky, Management Development Specialist has been with Training Services Division since 2000. Chris came to TSD with a B.S degree in Human Resources Management and many years working in the Customer Service arena. Currently, Chris delivers the Lessons in Leadership series which provides leadership development, facilitates Leading with Emotional Intelligence and co-facilities DHMH’s Trainer Certification Program, a workshop for trainers.  Chris enjoys spending her free time in Delaware.

Cynthia Harris, Management Development Specialist has over 25 years of experience working in the public and private sector as a college instructor and training administrator.  She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Education and a Master’s of Business Administration, with a specialization in Management from Morgan State University. Cynthia joined the Training Services Division team in September 2002.  She currently designs and delivers courses that focus on the basic knowledge and skills that are needed by all levels of management. Cynthia enjoys spending time with her family and has been blessed with the opportunity to travel and meet people from all walks of life.    


Paulina Nicolaides has been a graphic artist working in print and web design since 2001. Prior to joining DHMH she spent several years in public relations at the Maryland State Lottery Agency. Currently, as webmaster for TSD and OHR, she is responsible for designing and maintaining their websites, administering the learning management system and preparing materials included in on-line courses.
Paulina holds a Bachelor's degree specializing in Visual Communications from Towson University. She enjoys her free time with family and friends.
