Outpatient Services Programs Workgroup
Members of the public invited to participate
Baltimore (May 12, 2014) – Governor Martin O’Malley has appointed Dr. Gayle-Jordan Randolph to chair the Outpatient Services Programs Workgroup designated by Senate Bill 882/House Bill 1267. Dr. Jordan-Randolph is a clinically trained child psychiatrist, adult psychiatrist, and forensic psychiatrist and has extensive experience in Maryland’s behavioral health system.
The legislation, passed during the recent General Assembly session, requires the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) to convene a stakeholder workgroup to examine the development and implementation of assisted outpatient treatment programs, assertive community treatment programs, and outpatient service programs in the State; develop a proposal for a program in the State; and evaluate the dangerousness standard for involuntary admissions and emergency evaluations. Moreover, Senate Bill 882/House Bill 1267 requires the proposal to address all of concerns regarding assisted outpatient treatment that were recently identified by the Continuity of Care Advisory Panel in its report to the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene.
